Distinguish new concepts and projects between the different (often highly confused) innovation types.

What is this for?

Want to discuss your innovation-strategy ideas as a group to properly evaluate and refine them? Our innovation landscape tool can help. It enables you to:

  • Create an overview as a team by individually structuring your ideas or concepts with your organization in mind.
  • Understand how realistic your ideas/concepts are for your company at this moment in time.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1

Download this PDF and print it on an A2 sheet of paper. If you can’t print, simply draw the diagram on a sheet of paper.

Step 2

Let’s get started! Pick an idea you previously generated during a brainstorm session.

Step 3

Evaluate if you can execute this idea with your company’s current business structure, or if you need new partners, markets, or channels. Map it on the vertical axis accordingly.

Step 4

Evaluate if you can execute this idea with your organization’s current technical capabilities, or if you need to get new know-how, processes, activities, or resources. Map it on the horizontal axis accordingly.

Step 5

Start the group discussion when all ideas/concepts are positioned in the innovation landscape map. It’s possible that some ideas or concepts fit into more than one box, just put it into one that suits best.
