Future impact wheel

Review your innovation strategy and find out how your organization performs according to the different impact values – equality, community, empowerment, and environment.

What is this for?

The Future impact wheel helps you identify whether your organization is acting in a socially responsible way.

It enables you to look at your company’s innovation strategy and judge it based on the different impact values – equality, community, empowerment, and environment.

Use this tool to find out what you’re doing well (and where you’re on track to have a positive impact), where you can improve, and which impact values are of lower priority. In doing so, you will be able to determine whether your organization is contributing to a better future.

We developed these impact values based on existing design criteria from the likes of Sustainable Development Goals, Biomimicry DesignLens: Life’s Principles, and the B-corp Impact Assessment.

Why? Because we observed a need for companies to consider integrity when formulating innovations.

Innovation strategists need to think about more than just bottom lines and future growth. Not only will taking social responsibility into account protect your company’s reputation going forward, but ensuring your innovations benefit society at large is the only way to be sure that they’re future-proof.

Step-by-step guide.

Step 1

Score your organization on each of the 4 impact categories.

Step 2

How do you want your organization to evolve in the future? Write down initiatives that would bring you closer to your goals.

Hint

Find inspiration using our Impact Analogy Cards. They describe organizations that score remarkably well on one or more of these impact values (find more information below).

Need inspiration?

When you download the Future Impact Wheel, you’ll also receive a set of inspirational Impact Analogy Cards that discuss ‘star companies’ which score remarkably well on one or more of these impact values. Disclaimer: these are still a work in progress. If we should include your company, please let us know.

We are still considering two different formats: either a complete analogy card about one specific company, or condensing the information on brainstorm cards that ask triggering “what if” questions (similar to these brainstorm cards that we use during our ideation sessions). Tell us your preference in the feedback form at the bottom of this page!
