Winners of the
Low Touch Economy

About this list

The current health crisis created a global economical storm that none of us have experienced before. In this new era, large and small companies alike have redesigned their business models to ensure new and safer interactions between customers and companies. We refer to this new era as the Low Touch Economy.

Not every business will be impacted equally. Our researchers and strategists hand-picked 50 companies that are flourishing in this challenging new climate. These ‘ ‘low-touch winners’ have innovated in order to survive.

Our analysis is not based solely on past performance over the last few months. Our team of experts has also assessed growth potential in the years to come as companies adjust to the Low Touch world. Homeschooling software was in high demand during the lockdown, but when kids return to school, l, demand for these services is likely to drop away. So we have selected companies that are set to benefit from long-term changes rather than short-term trends.

Our rating is based on 2 major  factors:

1) Economical & financial growth:
Example indicators: customer growth, revenue and/or profit growth, the increase in stock value, attracting new markets, new partnership deals, increase in branding & reach.

B) Preparedness for the Low Touch Economy:
Based on our Readiness Score Card, we evaluated companies based on how dependent they are likely to be on close physical interactions between people, indoor gatherings or large outdoor gatherings, and a range of other factors. Taken together, they will determine their suitability and sustainability in the Low Touch Economy.

Who is and isn't on the list?

We limited our list to 40 winners with headquarters in Europe or Northern America. Many companies that are thriving today have benefited directly from the health crisis, but we have looked beyond these businesses in order to paint a more accurate picture of where the long-term winners will be found. For that reason, pharmaceutical and chemical companies who are making vaccines, ventilators, masks, and other personal protective equipment are not included in our selection.

We have also added  10 other companies to our list that are worth keeping an eye on as the Low Touch Economy becomes a reality. These are smaller organizations operating in high growth areas, many of which provide an innovative new product or service. Some of these firms will emerge as the Low Touch winners of tomorrow.

This list will be updated on a regular basis. If you have feedback or questions, feel free to reach out to nick@boardofinnovation.com
