Since we’ve launched the first version of the Business Model Blocks about a year and half ago, we have been surprised by the enthusiasm and the number of people that started to use the blocks to visualize their business models. With all the feedback that we received from users, it was about time for an upgrade! Over the last two months we’ve reworked the initial 10 blocks to a brand-new set of 16 building blocks (thanks Tijl Piryns for the design!). You can have a look at ‘the making of‘. On the level of stakeholders we added four blocks: My Organization, Supplier, Government, and Non-profit. On the level of exchangeable objects we added: Data, Rights, and Credits. Attention and Exposure where merged into one building block. Check out the new Business Model Blocks template and let us know what you think:

Through a series of prototypes and workshops, we’ve found that the extended set better suits the subtleties of business models across different sectors. The new BM Blocks were used for the first time at our Business Model Tastings in Hasselt and Ghent (some action photos). What else? Brainstorm kits with magnetic blocks, business modeling with the blocks on the iPad,… stay tuned! What do you think? Send us your feedback via the contact form or directly to @philderidder/@nickdemey on twitter (tag: #bmblocks).
