Jorn Vanysacker

While studying product development for 5 years and having experienced a very successful cooperation with Procter & Gamble, Jorn Vanysacker got truly intrigued by the initial and more intangible steps of the product development process. Conceptualising existing truths and/or products and services makes people look at phenomena as if they otherwise never would.
Furthermore, Jorn studied at the Aston Business School in Birmingham, determined to successfully submerge himself in the rather new method, i.e. Scenario Planning. Trough this ability to anticipate corporate futures in superior way and his prior acquired design skills, Jorn hopes to gradually build out a distinct career path.

CASE: Business model evaluation RetailSquare

RetailSquare will soon become the new reference for retailers to get inspiration and advice on how to improve their shop experience. But how should this content platform make money? During the first business model workshop that we organized in this project, we invited one of the Junior Board members to the table.

Judith, as a young promising marketeer, shared her insights with the other participants. Having someone in the session who lives and breaths the digital society, is crucial when exploring alternative strategies for an online platform. Combining ‘grey hairs’ with young creatives is a powerful mix to develop innovative solutions. Also for Judith it was an interesting experience: “By participating in this workshop I came to realize how people with different backgrounds and different positions can stimulate the process of creating a new business model. But most of all I learned to think out of the box when brainstorming about new businesses.”

Pay-what-you-want: what is it worth to you?

People hire the Junior Board to get refreshing ideas via a Pay-what-you-want formula. To define a fair reward we’ll have a small and informal evaluation afterwards. In this case, the founder of RetailSquare decided that Judith’s contribution during the brainstorm was worth 150 euro. He preferred to pay her partially in books, so next to some extra cash Judith will have several must-reads in her possession. We as Board of Innovation take no commission on these rewards and/or payments.
